Annapurna Base Camp Trek – 7-Days Introduction

A rapid sprint to the heart of the Himalayas – where the mountain talks, and time concedes to beauty.”

The 7-day Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a brief but highly leveraged adventure in the majestic heartland of the Annapurna Sanctuary. It is targeted at those looking for a shorter adventure in the Himalayas while not sacrificing any of the uplifting magic of Nepal’s high mountains. In one week, you can witness towering peaks, densely packed rhododendron forests, welcomed by warm Gurung villages, and witness mystical sunrise moments of Annapurna Base Camp.

We begin in the colourful village of Ghandruk in the foothills, traverse through Chhomrong, scale the stone staircases and bamboo grooves of the Modi Khola Valley, and arrive at Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m)—proudly situated in a 360° amphitheater of snow giants with both Annapurna I and Machapuchare, Hiunchuli and so many more!

This is an ideal trek for time-poor trekkers seeking a truly enjoyable walk, while being incredibly achievable. This trek includes private transport, all meals during the trek, as well as accommodation in Pokhara and mountain lodges. Offering time in steaming hot pools at Jhinu Danda to some of the most incredible sunrise inspiration of any mountain range in the world, the 7-day Annapurna trek is a fun and efficient way to connect into the lap of the Himalayas.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Pokhara to Siwai (approx. 2.5 hrs), trek to Chhomrong (2,170m)

Set off with a scenic drive through the Modi Khola river valley. After Siwai, start trekking along the small settlements and rice terraces to Jhinu Danda, then ascend the stone steps to Chhomrong, a scenic Gurung village with great views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli.

Day 2: Trek from Chhomrong to Dovan (2,600m)

The track is downhill to Chhomrong Khola and then a hard climb through bamboo and rhododendron forests to Sinuwa. Continue slowly up through the forest to Bamboo and finally to Dovan, which is located among dense thickets of bamboo.

Day 3: Dovan to Deurali (3,200m)

The landscape becomes alpine. Cross the thick jungle of the Himalaya and Hinku Cave, with caution to cross landslide regions. Arrive at Deurali, where cliffs and waterfalls surround the path.

Day 4: Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m) through Machapuchare Base Camp (3,700m)

The most thrilling day. The trail ascends gently into the glacier valley, with vegetation gradually thinning out. Reach Machapuchare Base Camp for spectacular views of Fishtail Peak, and thereafter head towards the bowl-shaped haven amidst giants—Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and the rest. Sunrise and sunset here are experiences that would change one’s life.

Day 5: Trek from ABC to Bamboo (2,310m)

Wake up early to witness a glorious sunrise illuminating snow walls. Return, going down through MBC, Deurali, and Dovan, and spend the night at Bamboo.

Day 6: Trek from Bamboo to Jhinu Danda (1,780m)

Go further down through the forests and arrive at Jhinu Danda. Unwind and recharge in natural hot springs riverside—a warm respite after frigid highlands.

Day 7: Trek to Siwai, drive back to Pokhara

A short, peaceful walk brings you to Siwai, where a jeep or private bus awaits to take you back to Pokhara. A warm farewell to the mountains with memories that will echo in your life forever.
